Suspected Bandits Attack Rector’s Residence in Zamfara State
KAURA NAMODA, Zamfara State – An early morning raid on the residence of Dr. Aminu Yusuf, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, resulted in the death of his security guard and the abduction of several residents. The attack occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
Crisis reporter Bakatsine reported details of the incident via social media. According to his account, the gunmen specifically targeted the rector’s home, where they shot and killed the security guard, identified as Isah Yankaba.
Dr. Yusuf, along with his wife and daughter, managed to escape by scaling the perimeter fence, although he sustained an injury to his leg during the flight.
The gunmen continued their rampage in the community, reportedly abducting the wife and daughter of a local resident known only as Ibrahim in the Hayin Baguso area.
An attempt to breach the home of businessman Alhaji Salisu Azaria was thwarted when security personnel responded quickly, prompting the assailants to flee.
The attack culminated in the Low-Cost area of Kaura Namoda, where Dr. Namadina Hamza, a university lecturer, was also taken.
As of this report, the Zamfara State Police Command has not issued a statement regarding the incidents.
