BREAKING: LPPC suspends Mike Ozekhome’s SAN rank

Professor Mike Ozekhome Suspended from Senior Advocate of Nigeria Rank
Renowned constitutional lawyer and human rights advocate, Professor Mike Ozekhome, has been suspended from his position as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) made this decision during its 173rd General Meeting.
A statement issued by the LPPC, and signed by its Secretary, Mr. Kabiru Eniola Akanbi, indicated that the suspension is in accordance with Paragraph 26(6) of the Guidelines for the Conferment of the SAN Rank and related matters.
Akanbi, who also serves as the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, clarified that the suspension is effective pending the outcome of ongoing disciplinary proceedings before the Disciplinary and Ethics Sub-Committee of the LPPC.
The LPPC stated that the action aims to uphold the integrity, dignity, and prestige associated with the SAN rank. As a result, Ozekhome has been prohibited from presenting himself as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria until the conclusion of the disciplinary process.
“The LPPC remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of professional ethics, integrity, and discipline within the legal profession, ensuring that the SAN rank continues to command public confidence and respect,” the statement read.
