Benue State Police Arrest 10 Suspects in High-Profile Murders
The Benue State Police Command has apprehended 10 individuals in connection with the murders of Ardo Risku Mohammed, the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), and Yakubu Isa. The arrests came after extensive intelligence gathering and tactical operations conducted by police officers in Otukpo on the night of June 27, 2026.
In a statement released on Saturday, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Udeme Edet described the arrests as a significant advancement in the ongoing investigation into the violent deaths.
The individuals detained are identified as Titus Thyodenda, 25; Utibe Sam, 20; Owoicho Ameh, 18; Sunday Useni, 21; Sunday Ogbanje, 46; Daniel Raphael, 23; Adokole John, 24; Samuel Ogazi, 32; Agbo Daniel, 25; and Onazi James, 30.
Police Commissioner Cletus C.N. Nwadiogbu praised the efforts of the tactical teams and investigators, calling the arrests a key step toward achieving justice. He assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that efforts are being intensified to locate and apprehend additional suspects linked to the case.
Nwadiogbu urged residents to remain calm and urged them to cooperate with law enforcement by providing credible information that could aid the investigation.
“The Benue State Police Command remains dedicated to protecting lives and property, while ensuring peace and security across the state,” the statement noted.
Earlier, the Command condemned the killings of Mohammed and Isa, describing the attacks as regrettable and vowing to hold those responsible accountable.
