Explosion in Mushin Injures One, Police Confirm
LAGOS — The Lagos State Police Command confirmed an explosion on Monday in a commercial area of Mushin, believed to have been caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). One individual sustained injuries in the incident.
Lagos State Police Commissioner Fatai Tijani addressed reporters at the Shoe Materials Market, the site of the explosion. He stated that police officers, including Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) specialists, were promptly deployed following the explosion reports.
“We received reports of an explosion and immediately sent our EOD unit to the scene. The area was quickly sealed off for a thorough inspection,” Tijani said.
According to Tijani, the IED was placed under the passenger side of a vehicle and detonated when the vehicle was started.
One person was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition, police officials confirmed.
After a comprehensive sweep of the area, no additional explosive devices were discovered.
The commissioner urged residents and local traders to remain calm and resume their daily activities, assuring them that the situation has been contained.
