Federal High Court Grants Bail to Former CCT Chairman
ABUJA — A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to Danladi Umar, the former chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), set at 100 million Naira with one surety of equal value. The court’s decision was made during proceedings on Wednesday.
Umar was previously remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre by a Federal Capital Territory High Court after being arraigned by the Federal Government on four counts of corruption.
In a brief ruling, Justice Peter Kekemeke stipulated that the surety must possess a valid certificate of occupancy.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged Umar with receiving undue advantages while in office, specifically alleging he accepted gratifications from contractors involved in projects for the CCT. Umar has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
