Police Service Commission Appoints New Commissioner for Taraba State

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has appointed Commissioner of Police Edwin Ogbegbagha as the new Commissioner of Police for Taraba State.

Torty Njoku Kalu, head of protocol and public relations at the PSC, confirmed the appointment in a statement. The decision followed an extensive interview process conducted at the PSC’s corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, which was overseen by the commission’s chairman, retired Deputy Inspector General Hashimu Salihu Argungu.

The commission emphasized the importance of professionalism and neutrality in Ogbegbagha’s duties, especially as the country prepares for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Ogbegbagha brings over 25 years of law enforcement experience to his new role. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Force Provost Marshal at Force Headquarters in Abuja, a position he has held since March 2026.
