Coventry City manager Frank Lampard acknowledged the challenges posed by Arsenal after his team fell to a 3-0 defeat in their Premier League opener on Friday at the Emirates Stadium.
Goals from Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, and Martin Ødegaard secured the victory for Arsenal, marking a strong start to their title defense under manager Mikel Arteta.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Lampard reflected on the match, describing it as “a big challenge.” He praised Arsenal’s performance, stating it served as an important lesson for his players regarding the standards required at this level.
“It was a difficult game for us,” Lampard said. “The experience is probably good for us in terms of the stadium, the atmosphere at the start of the game, and the quality that they have.”
Lampard also noted the impact of conceding goals, acknowledging, “When you concede goals, it’s not great from us, and that’s the reality.”
