Ex-IGP Adamu emerges SDP governorship candidate in Nasarawa


The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has selected former Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Nasarawa State. Adamu secured the nomination during a direct primary held on Saturday, where he emerged through an affirmation voice vote supervised by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This followed the withdrawal of the party’s previous candidate, Musa Adamu Angba.

In remarks following his nomination, Adamu outlined his campaign priorities, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure, healthcare, and essential services, particularly in rural communities. He committed to addressing practical issues that affect residents in each ward and local government area.

“During the campaign, we will be specific about what we intend to do in every local government and every community,” he said.
