Oyo State Fire Service Recovers Bodies from River in Ibadan
IBADAN, Oyo State — Authorities have recovered the bodies of two individuals from the Ariyo River in the Ona Ara Local Government Area following an accident involving a vehicle.
The recovery took place on Friday after a Toyota Avensis, which reportedly lost control, veered off the road and plunged into the river. The registration number of the vehicle has not been disclosed.
Maroof Akinwande, Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed the incident and provided details in a statement to DAILY POST on Saturday. He stated that the bodies were retrieved and subsequently transferred to the Nigeria Police Force for further action.
“Upon arrival, it was confirmed that the vehicle had swerved off the road and was submerged in the river. The rescue team immediately implemented necessary operational procedures and successfully recovered the two casualties from the vehicle,” Akinwande’s statement read.
The victims were handed over to police officers, led by ASP Adesuwa Sesan from the Ogbere Target police station, for follow-up investigations.
