Fresh attack leaves farmer dead in Plateau

Farmer Killed in Attack in Plateau State
A farmer was killed in an attack by suspected gunmen in Butura Gida village, located in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident was reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Thursday, noting that the attack occurred around 7:47 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8. Troops from Sector 5 of Operation Enduring Peace responded to a distress call from the community. However, by the time they arrived, the attackers had already fled, leaving behind the deceased. Security personnel were unable to locate the perpetrators at that time.
According to security sources cited by Makama, a manhunt has been initiated to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
This killing follows another violent incident in Plateau State, where a 13-year-old herder, Mustapha Abdul Kadir, was found dead alongside four cattle in the Mangu Local Government Area. Authorities suspect that armed militia may have been involved in that incident.
Earlier on the same day, two residents were reportedly killed in a separate attack in the Torok community of the Riyom Local Government Area, which has been attributed to suspected Fulani bandits.
Makama emphasized that these recent events have exacerbated concerns regarding security in Plateau State. Ongoing clashes and retaliatory attacks between farming and herding communities continue to result in fatalities and disrupt local livelihoods.
