Nigerian Bar Association Welcomes New President Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya
Port Harcourt, Nigeria — Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, was inaugurated as the new President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) during its Annual General Meeting held on Friday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. She succeeds Afam Osigwe, SAN, following the completion of his term.
In a commitment to her role, Badejo-Okusanya emphasized her intention to strengthen the NBA throughout her tenure. “I receive this office with gratitude for those who ran before me, humility for the trust placed in me, and a solemn determination to run my own leg faithfully,” she posted on her verified X account.
Reflecting on her journey, Badejo-Okusanya noted that it was twenty-four years ago that she attended her first Annual General Conference as a newly called lawyer, witnessing the transition of leadership within the organization.
She expressed her hope that by the end of her term, the Bar would be perceived as bolder and that its members would feel acknowledged, protected, and empowered. “The work begins today,” she stated, outlining her vision for her presidency.
