I’ll never castigate my predecessor – Gov Eno

Governor Eno Declines to Criticize Predecessor Amid Speculation of Strained Relations
UYO, Akwa Ibom State — Governor Umo Eno addressed rumors of a rift between himself and his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel, during a media briefing on Saturday at the Government House banquet hall. Eno stated unequivocally that he would not join any critics of Emmanuel.
Reflecting on his political journey, Eno praised Emmanuel for his unwavering support, which he credited for his victory in the 2023 elections. “Politics was not my career path, but God put me in the heart of Udom Emmanuel,” Eno noted. “He did all for me.”
The governor expressed his commitment to maintaining respect for past leadership. “I will not join anyone to speak against past leaders in the state. I may not be a good politician, but there are certain things I can’t do.”
During the briefing, Eno acknowledged concerns regarding the slow progress of ongoing projects within the state. He warned that contracts failing to meet performance standards could be terminated to protect government funds. “Our administration is currently executing numerous strategic road projects, including the dualization of Ring Road III and the reconstruction of the Ikot Akpaden–Iko Road,” he said.
Addressing the issue of potholes in Uyo, Eno proposed the formation of a monitoring committee that would include journalists and representatives from civil society organizations to track the condition of roads within the metropolis.
In response to ongoing concerns about inconsistent power supply, Eno urged residents to remain patient as the government works to establish a solid implementation framework for reliable electricity services across the state.
