Nigeria Police Force Dismantles Terrorist Group in Imo State

The Nigeria Police Force announced a significant operational achievement following a raid on criminal hideouts in Nguru, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State. Authorities recovered an extensive arsenal, including two General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs), one AK-47 rifle, a pump-action shotgun, and 3,115 rounds of ammunition, along with surveillance drones and other incriminating materials.

In a press statement released by Deputy Commissioner of Police Anthony Placid Okon, the operation aligns with the ongoing national campaign aimed at combating violent extremism and dismantling organized crime across the country.

The Imo State Police Command conducted the operation based on intelligence gathered from a confession made by Ebube Uchenna Maduakolam, also known as Ebube Virus, a suspected terrorist associated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Okon indicated that Maduakolam was among three individuals arrested at the site, and he is currently providing critical information regarding the group’s logistics, personnel structure, and planned activities.

“A thorough search of the location led to the recovery of the weapons and Biafran currency in various denominations,” Okon reported.

The Inspector-General of Police praised the operatives for their courage, professionalism, and tactical execution of the raid. The IGP emphasized that the seizure of this significant cache of weaponry would substantially weaken the operational capacity of the extremist network active in the South-East region.

Okon reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety of all citizens in the country.
