It’s high time for Nigeria to consider Igbo presidency – Brymo

Brymo Advocates for Igbo Presidency Amid Concerns of Insecurity
Maverick singer Olawale Olofooro, known as Brymo, has called for Nigeria to consider an Igbo presidency, emphasizing the need for national reconciliation.
In a recent interview with Yanga FM in Lagos, Brymo, who faced backlash during the 2023 presidential campaign for his previous comments regarding Igbo leadership, stated that it is time for Nigerians to “let go of the past.” He urged the country to unite and move toward healing longstanding divisions.
However, Brymo expressed concern that rising insecurity in the Southeast could hinder the prospect of an Igbo presidency. He noted that various groups in Nigeria have reportedly harnessed insecurity as a means of political leverage.
In his remarks, Brymo commended President Bola Tinubu for preventing the South-West security outfit, Amotekun, from evolving into a separatist organization. He warned that the continuation of violence and militant activities across different regions could jeopardize the nation’s stability.
“Anytime any group in Nigeria wants presidency, they will start militancy. That is what is going on. If you want presidency, start kidnapping and insecurity,” Brymo remarked during the interview.
He cautioned against the potential consequences of multiple active militant groups, suggesting the fragility of the nation remains a critical concern.
