Jungle Justice: Three burnt alive over murder of Plateau traditional ruler

Three Suspects Die in Mob Justice After Confession in Plateau State Murder
Three individuals suspected of murdering a traditional ruler in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State were killed by an angry mob on Friday night. Witnesses reported that the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime prior to their deaths.
The suspects were believed to have participated in the killing of Ponzhi Kwallak, the traditional ruler of the Kwallak community. Kwallak was attacked and fatally injured in his residence on Thursday night, following an assault that included the theft of his motorcycle, mobile phone, and other valuables.
The incident has created a climate of mourning and tension among local residents, prompting a manhunt for the criminals involved. The suspects were apprehended while allegedly attempting to sell the stolen motorcycle. During questioning, they reportedly confessed to the murder, which led to the subsequent mob violence.
A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that some community members initially attempted to turn the suspects over to law enforcement. However, they were overrun by a larger group, who seized the suspects and set them on fire near the Council Secretariat.
Efforts to obtain confirmation from the Plateau State Police spokesman, DSP Alfred Alabo, were unsuccessful, as calls to his mobile phone went unanswered.
