Kano court remands TikToker Yar Lele over alleged defamation, harassment

The Upper Sharia Court located at the Post Office in Kano has ordered Khadija Muhammad, widely known as ‘Yar Lele’, to be held in a correctional facility following allegations of defamation and harassment.

The court, presided over by Justice Garba Malafa, heard the case after Khadija was brought before it by the police. She faces accusations of posting a video that allegedly made defamatory statements concerning MD Hassan, a politician from the Nassarawa Local Government Area in Kano State.

In response to the charges presented, Khadija pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutor Barrister Awaisu Sani Lawan requested additional time to summon witnesses and gather further evidence to support the prosecution’s case.

After considering the submissions from both parties, the court ordered Khadija’s remand and adjourned the case until October 14, 2026, for further proceedings.
