Benfica’s Mourinho Denies Real Madrid Contact
Benfica manager José Mourinho stated he has not been approached by Real Madrid about the head coaching position, despite recent speculation linking him to the role.
Mourinho made the comments during a pre-match press conference ahead of Benfica’s upcoming match against Braga on Sunday. The Portuguese coach has been a subject of interest as Real Madrid continues its search for a permanent manager following the dismissal of Xabi Alonso earlier this year. Alvaro Arbeloa currently serves as caretaker manager through the end of the season.
When asked about potential discussions with Real Madrid, Mourinho said, “I have not had any contact with the Real Madrid club management, and due to my own decision, especially at the end of the season. I will not discuss these matters with anyone. I will not talk about it.”
Mourinho’s focus remains on his current responsibilities at Benfica as the team prepares for the match against Braga.
