My wife not Benue First-Lady – Sam-Ode

Benue Deputy Governor Clarifies First Lady Status
The Deputy Governor of Benue State, Barrister Sam Ode, issued a public statement addressing ongoing discussions regarding the role of the First Lady in the state. He clarified that his wife, Mrs. Christie Ada Sam-Ode, does not hold that title.
The announcement came via a statement from Mr. Ior Ikyereve, the Deputy Chief Press Secretary in the Office of the Deputy Governor. It emphasized that Mrs. Sam-Ode’s official role is solely that of the Deputy Governor’s wife, consistent with her husband’s constitutional position.
The statement refuted misleading assertions circulating on social media, which suggested that Mrs. Sam-Ode was vying for the title of First Lady. It reaffirmed that the role is traditionally reserved for the wife of the sitting governor, and emphasized that Mrs. Sam-Ode has not attempted to claim that position.
Additionally, the Deputy Governor’s Office highlighted Mrs. Sam-Ode’s ongoing commitment to supporting her husband in his official duties and engaging in initiatives that align with the administration’s development goals.
The statement also addressed rumors of internal discord within the government, asserting that the deputy governor and his family maintain a harmonious relationship with Governor Hyacinth Alia and other administration stakeholders.
The Deputy Governor’s Office urged the public to disregard narratives that could lead to misunderstandings, expressing hope that this clarification would resolve the controversy that has emerged online.
