NDLEA, Army raid Edo drug hub, seize 604.5kg skunk

Edo State Authorities Seize 65 Bags of Illicit Drugs
Operatives from the Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, seized 65 bags of illicit drugs weighing a total of 604.5 kilograms.
Dr. Mitchell Ofoyefu, the Edo State NDLEA commander, confirmed the operation in a statement issued to the press on Monday in Benin City.
The drugs, which tested positive for skunk cannabis, were confiscated during a raid of a known drug hub in the Ewe Luleha community of Owan West Local Government Area. This operation took place on August 5, 2026.
Ofoyefu noted that authorities are actively pursuing a suspected drug kingpin identified as Sunday, who remains at large following the raid.
“We are tracking the suspect, who is currently in hiding. He has nowhere to conceal himself because we are determined to apprehend him,” Ofoyefu stated.
