Police Confirm No Abduction Following Bandit Attack in Niger State

NIGER, Nigeria — The Niger State Police Command confirmed that there were no reported cases of abduction during a suspected bandit attack on a police outpost in Zugurma Village, located in the Mashegu Local Government Area.

Superintendent Wasiu Abiodun, the command’s spokesperson, made this announcement in Minna on Monday. He stated that the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday when armed bandits blocked the Mokwa-New Bussa Road, invaded the village, and attacked the police outpost.

A joint security team, comprising various law enforcement agencies, responded swiftly to a distress call, prompting the attackers to retreat into the Ibbi Forest.

“There was no case of abduction during the incident,” Abiodun reiterated.

He assured residents that security forces are actively pursuing the fleeing suspects and stated that further updates would be provided as investigations and security operations continue.
