Nigeria grants 30-day visa exemption for Rwandan nationals

The Nigeria Immigration Service has announced a 30-day visa exemption for Rwandan nationals. This decision follows remarks made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the Africa CEO Forum held in Kigali, Rwanda.
According to an official statement, the visa exemption is granted as part of a reciprocal arrangement reflecting the similar policy extended by Rwanda to Nigerian citizens.
Under this new directive, Rwandan nationals can enter Nigeria without a visa for a maximum of 30 days. This policy applies to various lawful purposes, including tourism, business, and official engagements.
Individuals wishing to stay in Nigeria beyond the 30-day period must obtain the appropriate visa through a Nigerian embassy or high commission abroad or through the Nigeria e-Visa channel.
The Nigeria Immigration Service has instructed all international entry points—airports, land borders, and seaports—to begin immediate implementation of this policy in accordance with the presidential directive.
The initiative is described as a reinforcement of the diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Rwanda, aimed at promoting intra-African mobility, tourism, and economic cooperation. The Service emphasizes its commitment to facilitating safe and orderly migration in alignment with international best practices and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.
