Nigerian Military Reports Successes Against Terrorism in Borno and Plateau
Nigerian military forces have successfully neutralized nine terrorists during a precision airstrike in Borno State, according to a report released by the military. The operation, part of ongoing efforts across the North-East and North-Central regions, also led to the apprehension of six suspected kidnappers and logistics suppliers receiving medical treatment for gunshot wounds in Plateau State.
The report, disseminated by the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday, detailed that an Air Interdiction Mission, designated GUARDIAN, tracked three motorcycles carrying the terrorists in the Mai Hisari Arege area of Abadam Local Government. The aircraft conducted a targeted strike, destroying the motorcycles and eliminating all nine individuals.
Additionally, troops from Operation SAFE HAVEN arrested six suspects at a hospital in the Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau. These individuals, treated for gunshot and machete wounds, are now in military custody for further investigation.
The report also noted the arrest of a Fulani youth leader in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna, allegedly linked to a recent terrorist attack in the Naridon Community.
In Benue State, military operations in Ukum Local Government Area resulted in contact with suspected terrorists, leading to the death of one individual while others fled. Troops recovered a locally fabricated pistol, a motorcycle, and other items from the scene.
Meanwhile, military personnel responding to an assault on herders in Guma Local Government Area arrested a suspect accused of attacking a herder with a machete. The injured individual has been evacuated for medical treatment.
