Nnamdi Kanu recruiting more Igbo youths from prison for violence – Uwazuruike

Biafra Agitator Accuses Nnamdi Kanu of Inciting Violence from Prison

Ralph Uwazuruike, a prominent figure in the movement for the Biafran independence, has accused Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), of orchestrating violence against Igbo youths from his prison cell in Sokoto. Kanu is currently serving a life sentence for terrorism.

In a recent YouTube video, Uwazuruike alleged that Kanu is recruiting young people to engage in violent activities, resulting in the deaths of many recruits. He called on leaders of the Igbo community and the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a pan-Igbo organization, to travel to Sokoto and confront Kanu about his actions.

“I detest violence, and anyone who knows me will attest to that,” Uwazuruike stated. “How can a person sentenced to prison continue to recruit our youth for violent acts?”

He stressed that Kanu should serve his sentence without further inciting violence. “Every day, we hear news of young men being killed because they are misled into violence by Nnamdi Kanu, who is orchestrating this from prison.”

Uwazuruike proposed that Igbo leaders issue a stern warning to Kanu, urging him to cease recruiting young men into violent activities that threaten their lives.

He questioned the disparity in the government’s approach to violence, pointing out, “In the north, we hear of repentant terrorists and bandits being reintegrated into society. Why can’t we have repentant IPOB members here?”

He lamented the ongoing cycle of violence, urging those involved to seek amnesty and rehabilitation rather than deepen their commitment to violence.

Uwazuruike’s comments follow the emergence of social media videos featuring hooded individuals claiming to be affiliated with IPOB. These militants, armed and chanting in support of Kanu, threatened a renewed wave of violence in the Southeast unless their leader is released.

Recently, Kanu has dismissed several trusted allies serving in the Directorate of State (DOS) of Biafra and appointed new leadership from prison. Reports indicate he is allegedly recruiting 100 individuals for a project whose specific intentions remain unclear.
