FAAN Assures Public: No Confirmed Ebola Cases in Nigeria

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced that there are currently no confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease in the country, amid growing concerns following outbreaks in parts of Central Africa.

In a statement released Wednesday, FAAN emphasized the implementation of enhanced preventive measures across international airports to address potential risks of the virus entering Nigeria.

The Authority reported that “robust health surveillance and monitoring systems” are now in place at all international airports to facilitate early detection and swift response to any suspected Ebola cases.

FAAN is collaborating with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, Port Health Services, and other relevant agencies to improve passenger screening, particularly for those arriving from high-risk regions. Passengers are being screened for symptoms associated with Ebola, with any suspected cases being immediately isolated for further medical evaluation, in accordance with national and international health protocols.

Moreover, FAAN has intensified staff training programs, reinforced emergency response protocols, and enhanced coordination with airport stakeholders to ensure rapid action if necessary.

While reaffirming that Nigeria remains free of any confirmed Ebola infections, FAAN urged travelers to remain calm and cooperate with health officials during screening at airports. Passengers are also encouraged to report any symptoms or health concerns to the appropriate authorities to help safeguard public health and maintain safe airport operations across the nation.
