No New Ebola Cases Recorded in Uganda

Ugandan President Optimistic About Containing Ebola Outbreak

KAMPALA, Uganda — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni expressed optimism regarding the country’s efforts to manage the Ebola outbreak, announcing that no new infections have been reported in the past five days. In a statement released on social media Thursday, Museveni emphasized that the lack of new cases indicates the effectiveness of measures implemented by health authorities.

Museveni highlighted the importance of public health and urged citizens to avoid complacency despite the positive trends. “Health is more important than wealth,” he stated.

The president noted that the absence of new infections demonstrates the government’s successful response strategy. “I am encouraged that in the last five days, we have not registered any new Ebola infections; instead, we are seeing recoveries. This shows that the measures we have put in place are working,” he said.

However, he cautioned that the threat of Ebola remains and encouraged all Ugandans to continue following preventive measures. He advised the public to refrain from handshakes, uphold good hygiene practices, and strictly adhere to guidelines issued by health authorities.

“However, we must remain vigilant,” Museveni reiterated. “Avoid handshakes, maintain good hygiene, and follow the guidance of our health authorities.”

The president expressed confidence that Uganda would ultimately overcome this outbreak, recalling the nation’s previous successes in managing Ebola. “We defeated Ebola before, and with discipline and cooperation, we shall defeat it again,” he concluded.
