NPFL: Deutcsh pleased with Enyimba performance in Tornadoes loss
Enyimba Head Coach Emmanuel Deutsch expressed pride in his players despite their 2-1 defeat to Niger Tornadoes in the opening match of the season on Sunday. The game took place at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna.
Niger Tornadoes took the lead just before halftime when Aliyu Goyi converted a penalty in the 40th minute. Enyimba responded in the second half, leveling the score with a header from Wonah Williams in the 71st minute. However, Michael Olalusi secured the victory for Tornadoes, scoring the decisive goal seven minutes later.
Following the match, Deutsch praised the competitive nature of the game and the effort shown by his team. “Losing the opening match does not mean you have lost the league. I think it was a very good game,” he stated. He also noted, “For the game, totally, I’m impressed because the pre-season was very hard,” as reported by the club’s media team.
Enyimba will next face Doma United in their upcoming league fixture.
