Olubadan stops demolition of 200 houses in Ibadan

Olubadan of Ibadanland Halts Demolition Plans in Local Community
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, has suspended the planned demolition of approximately 200 houses in the Isokan estate extension, located in the Alao Akala and Elebu area of Ibadan.
The decision was made on Tuesday following several meetings held with residents impacted by the demolition order. Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, issued the directive to protect the housing community after residents expressed concerns over a potential court-ordered eviction.
This information was included in a statement released by his media aide, Adeola Oloko, and shared with DAILY POST on Wednesday.
According to the statement, a local figure named Mogaji Olopade Taofeek Abiola, also referred to as Mogaji Oloyin, has claimed to possess a court ruling from the Ibadan High Court that allegedly allows him to reclaim land within the community. This assertion prompted numerous landlords to approach Ladoja for intervention.
After consulting with the affected parties, the Olubadan ordered that no demolitions should occur in the area. He also instructed landlords whose roofs have been removed to restore them promptly.
In addition, Ladoja cautioned individuals attempting to seize land illegally to refrain from engaging in such activities. He emphasized the importance of clarifying land ownership issues within the community, stating, “By so doing, we would be able to know who is trespassing on whose land, and what next line of action to take.”
