Twelve Kidnapped Victims Rescued by Ondo Police
Operatives from the Ondo State Police Command successfully rescued 12 individuals kidnapped early Saturday morning in Ondo State.
The victims were passengers in an 18-seat bus bound for Ibadan when the vehicle was intercepted by armed assailants in Isua, located in the Akoko South East Local Council Area.
Police Public Relations Officer Abayomi Jimoh confirmed that the passengers were traveling from Benue State when the attack occurred.
In response to the incident, police deployed operatives along with local hunters to the scene. Jimoh indicated that the joint effort led to the rescue of all 12 victims, including the bus drivers.
“The Command received a distress report around 1:30 a.m. that two commercial Hummer buses transporting passengers from Benue State to Ibadan had been violently intercepted by armed kidnappers,” Jimoh said. “The attackers forcibly removed several passengers from the vehicles and took them into a nearby forest.”
Jimoh noted that the concerted efforts of the security team resulted in significant success, and the rescued victims are now receiving medical attention and support. Arrangements are being made to reunite them with their families.
The police remain committed to locating the remaining victims and apprehending the suspects involved in the incident.
