Osun people’ll vote for me to end thuggery, restore peace — ADC’s Salaam

Najeem Salaam, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate in Osun State, asserted his confidence in winning Saturday’s election, citing his experience and commitment to ending political thuggery and restoring peace in the region.
During a Town Hall event on Arise News, Salaam emphasized that residents of Osun are weary of political violence and are likely to support a candidate they believe will ensure tranquility.
“Osun people do not want thuggery again; they see us as the most peaceful party. They know I am the only candidate who can bring peace, and the ADC is the party that can deliver it,” he stated.
Salaam raised concerns about the ongoing issues of political violence and weapon proliferation in the state, warning that electing other candidates could exacerbate tensions.
“Osun people realize that if they vote for candidates A or B, conflicts will arise. The state is fraught with thuggery and ammunition. We aim to bring peace,” Salaam remarked.
He expressed his goal of fostering a better future for Osun through effective governance, human development, and policies aimed at enhancing the lives of residents.
“My mission is to build a better today and tomorrow for Osun. I intend to develop the state responsibly and ensure residents receive their entitlements. I am more suited for the governorship than any other candidate,” he declared.
Salaam characterized himself as a methodical politician who values research and planning, asserting that the policies outlined in his 10-point agenda are both realistic and attainable.
“I am a reserved individual who conducts thorough research. The elements of my ten-point agenda are practical and accessible to the public. My experience in government has equipped me,” he said.
Highlighting his extensive grassroots political experience, Salaam noted that he began his career at the local government level and has dedicated years to engaging with communities to understand their needs.
“I started at the local government level, and I have consistently focused on serving the people. Given the opportunity, I will prioritize humanitarian service,” he stated.
He concluded by emphasizing that his governance experience, grassroots connections, and policy plans have prepared him to lead Osun. Restoring peace, he affirmed, would be a primary focus of his administration if elected.
