Oyo school attack: Kidnappers release another video as nursing mother cries out for help
A video has emerged showing a nursing mother pleading for help following the mass abduction of teachers and students in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The woman, identified as a staff member at First Baptist Church School in Ogbomosho, expresses her anguish and calls for urgent intervention from the Federal Government and Oyo State officials, including President Bola Tinubu.
In the footage, she clutches her baby while recounting the harrowing events of the attack, where armed men invaded the school and kidnapped multiple individuals. “I am Temitope, from Ibadan, working at First Baptist Church, Ogbomosho. Yesterday, people came to our school and kidnapped both staff and students. First Baptist Church, we need your help for their release. President Tinubu, assist us. Our State Government, Engr. Seyi Makinde, we need your help,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion.
This video follows a similar appeal from Mrs. Rachael Alamu, the principal of Community High School in Esiele, who requested urgent assistance after seven teachers and 39 pupils were abducted last Friday. In her statement, she also called on the Federal Government, Governor Seyi Makinde, and the Christian Association of Nigeria for support in securing the victims’ release.
Security agencies have confirmed that rescue operations are underway, with police and military units actively pursuing the abductors through routes in the Old Oyo National Park. Initial reports indicate that during the attack, an assistant headmaster, Joel Adesiyan, was killed, and several motorcycles were stolen by the assailants as they fled the scene.
