Oyo State Government Launches €55 Million Healthcare Initiative
The Oyo State Government has announced a new €55 million Healthcare Initiative Project aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery in the region. This initiative will focus on upgrading hospitals, expanding primary healthcare services, and improving emergency medical response across the state.
Governor Seyi Makinde’s Roadmap for Sustainable Development 2023–2027, which emphasizes increased access to quality healthcare, guides this initiative.
The government stated that the project includes plans for renovating and equipping Primary Healthcare Centres, acquiring additional ambulances, and upgrading secondary healthcare facilities.
Financed by a €55 million loan from France, the project has the potential to be converted into a grant if funds are utilized effectively.
Key components of the initiative involve the modular construction and equipping of hospitals with specialized facilities such as a Cardiac Centre, Emergency and Maternity Centres, Operating Theatres, and Intensive Care Units. Additionally, the initiative will provide 39 ambulances, establish 10 dental centres, and enhance 200 Primary Healthcare Centres, alongside maternity and emergency facilities in various locations, including Igbo-Ora, Ogbomoso, Oyo, Moniya, Kishi, Iseyin, Okeho, and Eruwa.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve access to quality healthcare services, strengthen emergency response capabilities, and enhance medical infrastructure throughout Oyo State.
