Military Operation Rescues Eight Kidnapped Victims in Plateau State

Namu Town, Qua’an Pan LGA — Troops from Sector 9 of Operation Enduring Peace successfully rescued eight individuals kidnapped from Pandam Forest in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

The operation, carried out around 3:00 a.m., followed credible intelligence regarding the presence of kidnappers in the area, according to a press release from Captain Chinonso Oteh, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace.

During the engagement, troops encountered gunfire from the kidnappers who attempted to flee the scene. Amid the chaos, three of the victims managed to escape prior to the military intervention. A subsequent search of the forest by the troops led to the rescue of an additional five victims, bringing the total to eight.

“The rescued individuals are currently in safe condition, and efforts are underway to reunite them with their families,” Oteh stated.

The operation has garnered praise from local community members, who expressed a willingness to provide further assistance in the ongoing effort to capture the kidnappers.

In response to the unresolved threat, military forces are actively pursuing the fleeing assailants. Oteh emphasized the importance of community cooperation in disrupting criminal operations and restoring peace throughout the region.
