POCACOV takes anti-cultism campaign to Ogun youths, secures pledge against vices

Ogun State Hosts Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices
The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) has launched a youth sensitization initiative in Ogun State, engaging hundreds of teenagers and young adults at the Royal Ambassador Ogun Baptist Conference, Ephphatha 2026.
The event was spearheaded by State POCACOV Coordinator ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, aligning with the vision of Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu to enhance preventive policing through targeted youth outreach.
In a statement released on Monday, the police command outlined that the program aims to equip young Nigerians with essential knowledge to combat cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, and gang violence—issues that continue to jeopardize safety in schools and communities nationwide.
During the interactive session, POCACOV team members highlighted the risks associated with cultism and other social vices, emphasizing the detrimental impact these activities can have on the future of youth and the overall peace within academic institutions.
Officers shared real-life examples illustrating how cultism, substance abuse, and internet fraud have derailed the aspirations of many young individuals. They urged attendees to adopt self-discipline, seek positive peer relationships, and take personal responsibility.
The team also encouraged participants to view themselves as vital stakeholders in nation-building and to serve as ambassadors against societal vices in their schools and neighborhoods.
At the conclusion of the session, attendees collectively pledged to reject cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, and other social issues, committing to promote moral leadership within their communities.
According to the police command, this initiative is part of POCACOV’s national objective of fostering community policing and preventive education for young Nigerians. The program underscores the commitment to ongoing youth engagement, crime reduction, and the cultivation of safer communities across the country.
