Suspected Cultist Arrested in Niger State; Firearm Seized
BIDA, Niger State — The Niger State Police Command arrested a suspected cultist in Bida and recovered a firearm along with military-related items during a recent operation.
Police Public Relations Officer Wasiu Abiodun announced the arrest in a statement issued in Minna. According to Abiodun, the suspect was apprehended by officers from the ‘B’ Division during a routine patrol in the Federal Polytechnic Bida area.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Agada Isaac, also known as “Tee-light,” was reportedly riding a motorcycle when police operatives approached. Abiodun said Isaac abandoned his motorcycle and attempted to flee upon seeing the officers, which raised their suspicions.
After a brief pursuit, police officers detained Isaac, and a subsequent search uncovered a Beretta pistol. Further investigations at Isaac’s residence revealed additional items, including military camouflage clothing.
During interrogation, Isaac reportedly admitted to being a member of a cult group known as the “Vikings.” He claimed he purchased the firearm from an individual named Gideon, also known as “Starboy,” who is believed to reside in Suleja, for 300,000 naira.
Isaac also identified himself as a campus photographer and stated that the military camouflage items were given to him by a friend. Abiodun confirmed that the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. Efforts are underway to locate Gideon and any potential accomplices.
