Anambra Police Arrest Notorious Suspected Cultist
Anambra State police have apprehended a suspected cultist linked to a series of violent crimes. Favour Izunna, also known as Njoku, was arrested by the Special Anti-Cultism Unit in Obosi on April 30, 2026.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed the arrest in a statement to journalists. Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu has directed law enforcement to intensify efforts to locate additional gang members and their alleged sponsors, who remain at large.
The police’s investigation has revealed significant developments following Izunna’s confession. The 22-year-old is reportedly a member of the Vikings Confraternity, where he serves as an executioner responsible for terrorizing the Obosi area. During questioning, he confessed to the murder of at least five individuals, naming three victims: Somtochukwu Alfred, Udechukwu Izuchukwu, and Izuchukwu Obi.
Izunna also alleged that certain sponsors contracted him for these killings.
Operational support from the Rapid Response Squad led to the recovery of several firearms during the arrest. Among the recovered weapons were a pump-action gun, five live cartridges, a locally made Beretta pistol, and seven rounds of 7.5mm ammunition.
In addition to murder, Izunna admitted involvement in multiple kidnapping incidents in Anambra State, including the abduction of Emeka Chukwuka and Chinelo Onyeka, among others.
