Bauchi Police Arrest Three Suspects in Homicide and Criminal Cases
Bauchi, Nigeria – The Bauchi Police Command has apprehended three individuals in connection with separate incidents of alleged culpable homicide and criminal activities in Bauchi and its surrounding areas.
Authorities reported that the arrests occurred between Thursday and Friday in various locations, including Bauchi metropolis, Kirfi, and Ningi Local Government Area.
In the Bauchi metropolis, police arrested 19-year-old Abubakar Hudu following a physical altercation with Hassan Adamu. The fight, which occurred around 5:15 PM on Thursday in Gida Dubu, stemmed from a misunderstanding between the two men. After being separated from Hudu, Adamu collapsed and became unconscious. He was later taken to Specialist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officers from the ‘C’ Division responded to the incident, visiting both the scene of the altercation and the hospital, which led to Hudu’s subsequent arrest.
In a related case in Kirfi, 22-year-old Audu Babangida was arrested for allegedly stabbing 25-year-old Haruna Bala during a dispute over farmland on Thursday night. According to police reports, the conflict escalated, resulting in Babangida allegedly stabbing Bala in the neck with a knife. Bala was transported to the General Hospital in Kirfi, where he was confirmed dead. Babangida reportedly fled the scene but was apprehended around 11 AM on Friday at River Kafin Iya while allegedly attempting to cross into Gombe State. The knife believed to have been used in the attack has been recovered by authorities.
Additionally, two men, Aminu Jibrin and Salihu Mohammed, were taken into custody in Ningi for alleged criminal conspiracy and foeticide. The police claimed that the pair conspired to administer substances to 22-year-old Hauwa’u Yakubu, leading to the termination of her pregnancy. Jibrin, a resident of Burra District, and Mohammed, a 25-year-old chemist, were arrested after a local human rights activist provided information to law enforcement.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu has instructed that all cases be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation and prosecution. He also urged residents to avoid taking the law into their own hands and to report any disputes or criminal activities to the police instead of resorting to self-help measures.
