Police Arrest Three in Jos North Drug Incident
JOS, Nigeria — The Plateau State Police Command arrested three suspects on Monday and recovered a locally made pistol during a security operation in the Jos North Local Government Area.
The operation took place around 4:45 PM when police personnel from the Gada-Biu Outstation intercepted the suspects while they were traveling on a Bajaj motorcycle from Rukuba Road toward Gada-Biu.
The suspects have been identified as Ibrahim Alhassan, 27, Kingsley Kadinan Deban, and an individual named Johnson, whose full name is yet to be confirmed. According to police sources, the suspects allegedly fired a shot into the air near Gada-Biu Catholic Church, prompting a swift response from nearby security operatives.
“The sound of the gunshot alerted our personnel, who immediately pursued and apprehended the three suspects,” a police source stated.
Following the arrest, authorities conducted a search and recovered the pistol as well as the motorcycle used by the suspects.
The suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are underway to determine the motive behind their actions. Police officials are also working to identify and apprehend other potential members of the group and recover additional weapons.
