Police arrest two suspected kidnappers connected to failed abduction in Delta

Delta State Police Arrest Suspected Kidnappers Following Failed Attempt
Operatives of the “A” Division, in partnership with a local vigilante group, have arrested two individuals suspected of involvement in a failed kidnapping attempt in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State. The incident occurred on June 19, 2026.
The suspects, identified as Iliyasu Hassan and Idris Abdulkarim, were apprehended on June 22, 2026, around 8:30 p.m. Delta State Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe confirmed the arrests in a statement issued from Warri.
Edafe stated that the suspects were taken into custody as they emerged from a nearby forest to purchase food and medication. A victim of a previous kidnapping incident positively identified them as attackers.
“The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue,” Edafe noted. He added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal gang and recover weapons used in their operations.
