Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State — The Kebbi State Police Command successfully rescued a woman who had been kidnapped and detained a suspect during a coordinated operation involving law enforcement, local vigilantes, and the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF).
Commissioner of Police Umar Hadejia provided details of the operation during a press briefing on Wednesday. He identified the victim as Asmau Isah, who was abducted from her home in the Bayan Forestry area of Birnin Kebbi on June 10.
According to Hadejia, a group of seven armed men attacked Isah’s residence, stealing 220,000 naira and several mobile phones before taking her to an undisclosed location.

The commissioner noted that efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the incident.
Hadejia reiterated the police command’s commitment to addressing kidnapping and other violent crimes in the region through intelligence-led operations and collaboration with community stakeholders.
He encouraged residents to stay alert and continue to provide reliable information to law enforcement, assuring them that all tips would be handled with strict confidentiality.
