Police Uncover Suspected Drug Facility in Lagos

LAGOS – The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) overseeing Zone 2 Headquarters has discovered a suspected drug storage facility in the Mende area of Maryland, Lagos, leading to the recovery of 425 bags of what is believed to be Canadian Loud, among other items related to an alleged trafficking operation.

The raid occurred over the weekend at a property located at 10 Olori Adekemi Ajibola Street, Arowojobe Estate. Authorities identified the primary suspect as 41-year-old Eke Henry Ifeanyi, who allegedly utilized a three-bedroom apartment in the complex for the storage and distribution of illegal substances, both domestically and internationally.

Items confiscated from the premises included two electric vehicles with forged presidential number plates, a Leopard hybrid vehicle sharing the same fraudulent registration, three Android phones, a Republic of Liberia residence permit, two ATM cards, and an Emporio Armani wristwatch.

Residents at the scene reported that Ifeanyi did not reside in the apartments but was believed to use the property exclusively for business purposes. Investigators indicated that the suspect obscured his illicit activities by storing hundreds of cartons containing thermal paper rolls typically used by Point of Sale operators within the apartment.

Ifeanyi had previously evaded capture during an earlier operation but was apprehended on May 19, 2026, after detectives tracked his movements. Following his arrest, he allegedly directed investigators to the facility used for his operations.

Further searches revealed that cartons of thermal paper rolls filled the living room, while one of the bedrooms contained bags suspected to harbor Canadian Loud. A local resident expressed surprise at the findings, stating that the community was unaware of such activities occurring in the building.

AIG Adegoke Jimoh emphasized the role of community intelligence in the operation, crediting a concerned resident for providing crucial information that initiated the investigation.

“Thanks to actionable intelligence from a vigilant citizen regarding suspected drug trafficking by Eke Henry Ifeanyi, detectives from the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department, Zone 2 Headquarters, conducted a meticulous surveillance operation that lasted several months,” Jimoh stated. “During the thorough search, we discovered bags of what is believed to be Canadian Loud disguised beneath the guise of selling thermal paper rolls.”

Jimoh thanked residents in Lagos and Ogun states for their ongoing support in assisting law enforcement with credible information to combat the spread of illegal substances.
