Son conspires to rob mother in Adamawa midnight attack


A man in Adamawa State is facing charges for allegedly conspiring with two accomplices to attack his mother and steal 200,000 naira along with other belongings.

The Adamawa State Police Command announced on Friday that they had apprehended the three suspects in connection with the robbery, which occurred in Wuro Kuturu, a community in the Jimeta area of Yola.

The robbery took place around midnight on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Authorities reported that the son, accompanied by two others, armed themselves with weapons and forced their way into the family home. Once inside, they stole 200,000 naira, two mobile phones, and a power bank from the victim and her other children.

Public Relations Officer SP Sulaiman Nguroje identified the suspects as Aminu Adamu, 20; Adamu Mamman, 22; and Nuhu Umar, also 22, all residents of Wuro Kuturu.

Nguroje indicated that the suspects were arrested on Thursday, September 17, 2026, by officers from the Karewa Area Command, following the victim’s report.

Items recovered from the suspects included a knife, pliers, scissors, various suspected narcotics, and quantities of Indian hemp.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime,” Nguroje said.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, has instructed that a comprehensive investigation be carried out and that the suspects be prosecuted expeditiously.
