‘Stop talking, go and work’ — Tinubu’s campaign spokesperson tells Wike, APC governors

Ima Niboro, spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council, has urged Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike and APC governors to cease their public disputes and prioritize mobilizing support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
Niboro made this appeal Wednesday during an appearance on Arise Television’s The Morning Show. He characterized the ongoing disagreement between Wike and the governors as a “quarrel among siblings.”
His remarks come after Wike criticized APC governors, labeling them as “politically lazy” for rejecting his proposed cross-party coalition, which aimed to unite support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Hope Uzodimma, the chairman of the APC Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, previously stated that APC governors would not endorse any political arrangement that could undermine the party or Tinubu’s re-election efforts. Uzodimma reaffirmed the governors’ commitment to supporting APC candidates at all levels.
In response, Wike questioned the political track records of the governors, particularly targeting Uzodimma’s effectiveness in garnering support for Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election. Wike emphasized his aim to rally support for Tinubu, rather than engage in state-level politics.
Niboro urged both Wike and the governors to temper their rhetoric and direct their efforts toward grassroots political engagement.
“When I said to tone down the rhetoric, I do not mean stop working. I mean stop talking and go and work,” he stated.
He highlighted the importance of political leaders reinforcing their organizational structures and directly connecting with voters instead of continuing their public disputes.
“All this shouting is not taking anybody anywhere. Go and work. Establish your authority in your political base,” he advised.
Niboro further expressed that his call was not for either party to relinquish political ground, but rather to demonstrate their influence through grassroots mobilization.
“If you’re a political leader, stop talking. Go and work. That is my point,” he concluded.
