Attack in Adamawa Claims Four Lives, Including Forest Guard
ZAH, Adamawa State — Suspected Boko Haram militants attacked the community of Zah in the Yadul District of Hong Local Government Area on Monday evening, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including a forest guard.
This incident marks a continuation of violence against multiple communities within the Hong LGA, which have frequently been targeted due to their proximity to the Sambisa Forest in neighboring Borno State, an area known for harboring insurgent groups.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers arrived on motorcycles, firing indiscriminately and setting residences ablaze. The assault led to significant loss of life and property damage. In addition to the fatalities, the assailants also abducted a middle-aged woman before security forces engaged them in a firefight, ultimately forcing the militants to retreat.
Aliyu Saad Yerima Hong, the Executive Chairman of Hong LGA, confirmed the attack and noted that the recent deployment of additional security personnel has helped restore a measure of order in the affected area.
“Residents should remain vigilant, cooperate closely with security agencies, and promptly report any suspicious activity in their surroundings,” Hong advised, highlighting the importance of community involvement in security efforts.
He also expressed gratitude for the swift response of security forces, stating that their timely intervention likely prevented greater casualties.
