Oyo State Police Recover Stolen Tricycle, Arrest Suspected Armed Robber
The Oyo State Police Command announced the recovery of a tricycle reportedly stolen at gunpoint and the arrest of a suspect in Ilorin, Kwara State. This development follows actionable intelligence received by the police.
According to a statement from Police spokesperson Ayanlade Olayinka, officers from the Command Monitoring Unit executed an intelligence-based stop-and-search operation in the Irepo area. During this operation, they intercepted a tricycle with registration number Lagos EPE 236 QR and apprehended the rider, identified as 31-year-old Akindele Seun.
Interrogation revealed that Seun had allegedly robbed the owner of the tricycle at gunpoint in Ilorin before fleeing into Oyo State with the vehicle.
The police have secured the recovered tricycle and are taking steps to locate its rightful owner for its return. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend any additional individuals connected to the crime.
Commissioner of Police Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga reaffirmed the command’s commitment to preventing Oyo State from becoming a haven for criminal activities. He stated that those who commit crimes or attempt to transport criminal proceeds into the state will be identified, arrested, and prosecuted according to the law, regardless of where the crimes occurred.
Olugbenga urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to assist police efforts in ensuring public safety.
