Terrorists invade another Plateau community, kill two farmers

Two Farmers Killed in Plateau State Attack

Two farmers were killed and another seriously injured on Monday in an attack by gunmen suspected to be Fulani terrorists in the Takkas community of Fier Ward, Pankshin Local Government Area, Plateau State.

Residents reported that the assailants ambushed the victims while they were working on their farms over the weekend. One farmer was killed on Sunday, followed by another on Monday evening, as confirmed by Dewan Gabriel, the member representing Pankshin North in the Plateau State House of Assembly.

In a statement released to the press, Gabriel noted that one of the deceased was taken to the General Hospital in Pankshin, while the other was transported to a nearby Christian hospital. He condemned the attacks, describing them as barbaric and unacceptable, and expressed concerns about rising anxiety in the community. Many local residents are fearful of returning to their farms during the critical farming season.

“I received news of the attack with deep shock and sadness,” Gabriel said. “No community should have to endure such tragedy, and those responsible must be identified and prosecuted without delay.”

He extended condolences to the families of the victims and the Takkas community, urging security agencies to intensify their efforts to apprehend the attackers.

“As the representative of Pankshin North, I will coordinate with security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure a thorough investigation,” he added. Gabriel also urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement by providing any information that could aid in the investigation.

In closing, he expressed hope for healing and lasting peace in Takkas Community and the wider Pankshin North area.
