Traders injured after commercial vehicle strikes suspected landmine in Sokoto
Several traders were injured in an incident involving a commercial vehicle that reportedly struck a suspected landmine on the Sabon Birni–Kurawa Road in Sokoto State.
Bakatsine, a counter-insurgency expert in the North-West region, shared on social media platform X that the vehicle, carrying traders, hit a landmine allegedly planted by bandits affiliated with Bello Turji. According to the post, the explosive device was reportedly intended for military personnel responding to an operation in the area.
While military personnel were not impacted by the explosion, several passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries. Fortunately, there were no fatalities among the civilians involved.
As of now, security authorities have not officially confirmed the details of the incident.
