Transfer: Lewandowski in shock return to Barcelona
Barcelona is reportedly exploring the possibility of re-signing Robert Lewandowski less than three months after his departure from the club. Lewandowski, who transferred to Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer earlier this summer, may be at the center of a surprising return to the La Liga champions.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona has initiated discussions with Chicago Fire regarding a potential short-term loan deal for the Polish striker. Romano shared on social media platform X that the Barcelona board is contemplating this move as a contingency plan should they be unable to acquire their primary striker targets before the transfer window closes.
Romano noted that Hansi Flick, the club’s coach, is open to bringing Lewandowski back as an emergency option for the upcoming season. While no formal bid has been submitted, the idea is reportedly being taken seriously as a backup strategy.
Barcelona has recently sold Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain and is facing challenges in securing a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez.
