Troops arrest five suspected drug peddlers in Delta
Troops from the 90 Amphibious Battalion, in partnership with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), arrested five individuals suspected of drug trafficking in Sapele Local Government Area, Delta State.
The arrests occurred during a cordon-and-search operation at approximately 10:10 p.m. on September 4, 2026, in the Ugberukoko Community, following intelligence reports regarding illicit drug activities in the region, according to Zagazola Makama.
During the operation, law enforcement officials seized six bottles containing a substance believed to be codeine from the suspects.
“A credible intelligence regarding alleged drug-related activities in the area prompted the operation,” a security source stated.
The apprehended individuals and the seized items were subsequently transferred to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and necessary legal action.
“The suspects have been handed over for further investigation and appropriate action,” the source added.
