Troops Arrest Suspected Armed Robber and Cattle Rustler in Taraba State
Taraba State, Nigeria — Troops from Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with operatives of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), have apprehended a suspect believed to be involved in armed robbery and cattle rustling in the region.
The arrest occurred around 5:00 p.m. on June 21 at the Mbiam checkpoint in Takum Local Government Area, according to a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
Military sources indicated that the operation was the result of extensive surveillance and tracking by Sector 3 OPWS, alongside intelligence operatives who had been monitoring the suspect’s activities.
The suspect had previously been placed on a watchlist due to allegations of involvement in criminal activities impacting Takum and nearby communities.
Currently, the suspect remains in military custody and is undergoing processing for further legal action, as reported by Makama.
Military officials stated that this arrest is part of ongoing efforts to address violent crimes in southern Taraba, where incidents of armed robbery and cattle rustling have raised significant concerns.
