Troops arrest three female ISWAP collaborators in Borno IDP camp

Nigerian Army Arrests Three Suspected Female ISWAP Collaborators in Borno State

Borno State, Nigeria — Troops from the Nigerian Army have apprehended three women suspected of collaborating with Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a recent operation in the Konduga Local Government Area.

The arrests were reported by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert focused on the Lake Chad region, via a post on the social media platform X.

Makama noted that the arrests followed intercepted communications regarding a woman’s planned movement to a known terrorist stronghold. The operation was conducted by the 222 Battalion (Mechanised) at an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Konduga, and was based on actionable intelligence.

The suspects are accused of facilitating movements and communication between local civilians and terrorist groups operating in the area. According to military sources, the women are currently in custody and face further investigation.

“The operation is part of ongoing efforts to disrupt support networks and dismantle collaboration channels that aid terrorist activities in the North-East,” Makama stated. He added that investigations are underway to assess the extent of their involvement and any potential links to other individuals within the network.
